I’ve just posted the latest update to Alayne’s Story over on the WoW RP forum. This week takes us through the first half of the Iso’rath chain in the Maw of Madness.
I’ve just about cleaned up the arc for Bastion of Twilight and will be moving into the next raid soon. My guild has gotten 6/7 in Firelands as well so I’ve been working on the videos from there since I finally got FRAPs and my storage drive to cooperate with each other again.
Well, back to work.
I’ve just posted the latest update to Alayne’s Story over on the WoW RP forum. This week’s update takes us through the fight between the Dragonmaw and the Thundermaar and introduces the Demon Soul and the black dragons.
I’ve just finished writing up the Valiona and Theralion encounter and will probably clear out the rest of the Bastion of Twilight next week. Then it will be time to start the next major arcs which should get us caught up with what is currently in Cataclysm just in time for Blizzard to change it all with the next patch.
And now, back to work.
I’ve been dividing my free time (when I’m not working or raiding) into three parts: 1) working on Alayne’s Story or Midnight of Lanar’ya, 2) researching things for my mother’s site, and 3) studying for the LSAT (Law School Admissions Test). I’m cautiously optimistic that I will do well on the LSAT when I take it in December. I still need to check to see if the center near me offers the exam in English but I suspect it will. I’ll then register to take it and keep studying for it.
I think that, if I score well enough on it, law school won’t tap out my savings nearly as much as I had feared. I’ve been careful all these years and have managed to save up quite a bit. So, I can afford to go to law school, even if I have to pay the whole thing myself. However, if I can get scholarships to cover some of the tuition and course fees, then that will be so much the better.
I’ve never been a big fan of putting yourself tremendously in debt to get a degree. I am practically allergic to debt which is why I don’t own a car (and plan to try to get the best car I can for the lowest price I can find if I go back to the US) and why I don’t own a house (no way, no how. Nothing doing. I’ll rent until it’s worth my time to even think about buying a home and right now, the housing market is looking like it will take a while to recover). I don’t feel the need to take fancy vacations or go out to pricey restaurants. I make my clothes last me for ages and generally only replace them when they are so ripped and torn up that it’d be indecent to wear them in public. My biggest annual expenditures are trips to visit my parents in the US or the occasional computer purchase.
I live within my means and in less than 10 years, have socked away enough cash that I can think about three years of law school without wondering how I’d eat while in school. Apparently, not a lot of people my age could say the same thing. I think that’s weird because I’ve never considered myself to be terribly exceptional when it comes to money. I don’t have a massive salary or anything. I just…don’t spend a lot of money. Simple.
At any rate, I’m looking forward to taking the LSAT. I hope I do well on it and get offered a discounted ride somewhere. That would be awesome.

I’m still reading and putting the final touches on the final draft of Twilight of Lanar’ya. However, I am far enough along in that to begin working on the second book of the Lanarian Empire series: Midnight of Lanar’ya. Taking place immediately after the events in Twilight of Lanar’ya, Midnight of Lanar’ya will answer many of the questions raised in the first book.
I’m really excited about it. I’ve spent a significant amount of time tweaking the outline for MoL and am glad to finally be working on it.
I think that I will finalize the last draft of ToL in a few weeks and then will come time to start my query letters. I am also preparing for the LSAT (Law School Admissions Test) later this year. If I don’t get a solid job offer soon, I will, more likely than not, take the LSAT and, pending the results, enroll in law school.
Well, enough gabbing from me. I’m going to put some more work in on MoL and then get some sleep. I still have to work in the morning.

Work continues apace on the last parts of the Twilight Highlands arc. I am starting work on the Bastion of Twilight arc and should have it and the Blackwing Descent arc ready to go in a few weeks.
But, for now, back to work.
Sinusitis. I has it.
I’ve been home sick since Tuesday. I managed to clear out the last block of edits on Draft Three of Twilight of Lanar’ya yesterday night. I’m going to hit my quota on Alayne’s Story tomorrow and then start working on the sequel to ToL. Provided, of course, I have enough energy. I got roped into raiding tonight and I am exhausted from it. I was supposed to be off but the tank who was covering for me couldn’t get the patch to apply to his WoW client. I went in thinking “oh, I’ll just be helping to clear up to Beth and then he’ll be on…”
By the time we got to Ryholith, I realized that wasn’t going to happen. So, I finished out the raid and then laid down for a while until my body quit hurting. Now I’m about to go take some more (disgusting) paracetamol, heat up some gel packs, take a bath, and then lay down and pray that my lymph nodes will stop swelling and hurting me. I had wanted to work on another page for this site and an article for my mom’s site but I slept most of today and yesterday and just can’t seem to find the energy to do anything other than moan about it.
Well, screw it. Going to shut down and get some sleep now.

I have finished the non-raid arcs and just completed the Grim Batol arc last night. I almost missed my weekly target due to working on my mother’s site. To get caught up on my own work, I took the night off playing WoW and spent it doing research for another article for my mom’s site and finishing up my “5-pages-per-week” assignment on Alayne’s Story. I also managed to clear away some work on Twilight of Lanar’ya’s 3rd draft. If I can recruit another dependable T12 tank into my guild, I should be able to get more writing done on my “off weeks.” Right now, raiding and helping my parents is taking up a considerable chunk of my free time so I’m trying to find more efficient ways of handling those tasks so that I can work towards my personal goals.
Also, I added a link to my friend and fellow writer Daniel Kaine’s site. I’ve known him for several years now (he’s in my guild) and I would encourage those of you who are 18+ to check out his work. His audience is much more adult than mine so it may not suit your personal tastes. Still, he’s a good writer and a good friend so I encourage you to give him a chance to grow on you. 😉
I decided to go ahead and chapter-break the master file and work from there. I’ve gotten some feedback from a few of my “beta readers” and am making modifications based on that. I’m hoping to finish this off for real soon and start writing query letters.
It’s going to be awesome. I can just feel it.
Even if I can’t get published via the traditional route, I’ll self-publish on Amazon.

Work on Alayne’s Story was put on hold this week due to the other things going on in my life (see the post before this one). I may share a little more about it with you all later. For now, it’s back to work!
