What a week…

God help me; I never want to go through another week like that again. Ever.

I got absolutely no writing done. I barely had my computer turned on. I spent most of my time with my parents. My brother’s visitation and funeral were beautiful and very well attended. I think there were over 400 people at both. AMR and all of the local volunteer fire houses had their trucks out there to escort him from the funeral home to the cemetery. It was really nice to see just how many friends he had and how well-liked he was.

On top of that, we found out he had a daughter. So, I’m an aunt.

I’m back home myself now. Jet-lagged and tired but home. I’ll go back to work some time this week. I’ll get started on my writing again and will, hopefully, post an update this Friday. However, for now, I’m just really tired and really glad that last week is over. Part of me is still hoping I’ll wake up to find it was just a really vivid (and really bad) dream.

Next Week

There may not be an update at all next week. Last night, I found out that my younger brother died. My husband and I are going to fly back to the US tomorrow morning to be with my family for a while. I probably won’t get any writing done (I just can’t focus on it right now) and I probably will not post an update to the story next week.

I am so glad I have next week off for vacation. I really need to get caught up in my updates. This week’s has just been posted and takes us the rest of the way through the characters’ trip to Sholazar Basin. Hints of events to come are dropped in though only in the most…incomplete…sense. 🙂

Latest Update Posted

I’ve just posted the latest update to Alayne’s Story over on the WoW-Europe RP forums. This week’s update takes the characters into Sholazar and begins building the groundwork for the next major arcs. It’s a longer update than usual because of the length of the scenes.

And now, I am going to go lay back down. This damned virus or whatever it is is horrible.

Horribly behind schedule this week

I am way behind even my revised (five pages) schedule this week. I have not been able to sit up very long or stay off the toilet much. Notice that I’m posting this entry at Godawful O’clock? Guess who’s being kept up all night again by the Stomach Bug from Hell? If you guessed “Alayne” then you’re right! Cookies for you!

At least maybe I’ll get some writing done and get somewhat caught up while I’m trying not to make a mess everywhere.

(Btw, no, I’m not toilet-blogging. The cord on my laptop doesn’t reach that far. Yes, I did test it. Hey, you come get whatever the hell it is I have and then you can judge me).

I hate being sick

I really do. It sucks. I’ve caught some kind of intestinal bug from hell. This means that I will be lucky to crank out five pages this week. I have zero energy; I’m at home right now wondering if I really and truly need intestines.

However, I’m doing good on the quitting smoking front. Over a week since my last. Go me. 🙂

I’ve just posted the latest update to Alayne’s Story over on the WoW-Europe RP forum. It’s a short one because the scene after this is about six pages long. Also, I’m going back to one update per week on Fridays.

Revising Estimates

And facing reality.

I am going to have to go back to one update per week. I am simply unable to keep writing 15 pages per week for weeks on end. To do so, I pretty much have to give up doing anything but working on Alayne’s Story in my spare time. That means no progress on The Unexiled, no raiding, no having a relaxing night reading or watching a movie. Nothing but sitting at my laptop and cranking out pages.

I can’t do it.

So, from now on, my most ambitious strategy will be 10 pages per week with one update a week on Fridays. I just cannot continue posting 12 to 15 pages a week. I just don’t have the time and energy.

Don’t make promises…

…that you can’t or won’t keep. Unless, of course, you want to get on the Fast Track To Pissing Me Off.

Seriously. How stupid does a person have to be to understand that if you do something such as…accept an invitation somewhere, you’re expected to show up? Do people just randomly go around accepting invitations nowadays? If you wouldn’t do it IRL, why do it online? I always decline invitations to events I know I can’t attend. But then, I was raised right. I’m just going to have to accept that some people have little to no “home training.”

Honestly, if you sign up to participate in something and then don’t show up and never bother to offer an explanation, do NOT act all shocked when I refuse to take you again. Especially if it’s a situation where nine other people are counting on you being there. If you stand up my raids and you do not have the decency to explain yourself or you have a dumbass excuse, all you’re going to do is land squarely on my Shit List.

Gah! This is why we should decline to accept anyone under the age of 25 into our guild in general. Children cannot be relied on, cannot empathize with those of us who have to work full time because Mommy and Daddy don’t pay our rent/food/transport/insurance/medical/children’s/childcare/etc bills for us, and just generally are immature. Yes, there are the odd exceptions to that rule but, in general, someone who is only 18 is going to be much more likely to be an inexperienced immature fuckwit than someone who is 28. Ten years of life and several years of working at a real job DOES make a difference.

I’ve just posted the latest update to Alayne’s Story over on the WoW-Europe RP forums. Today’s update finishes up the assault against Naxxramas story arc.

And, in other news: I’ve quit smoking. Or, at least I’m trying to quit. Christ, this is driving me crazy. 🙂
